Coast operates three divisions: Coast Hydro Excavating, Coast Sand & Gravel and Coast Slingers. We are based in the Comox Valley and our sales territory is North Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
Coast Hydrovac also operates Hydrovac trucks in Powell River and the Sunshine Coast.

ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Overview:
The Sales Representative will focus on growing Coasts business units in the municipal, construction, and development sectors:
Prospect, develop, and manage customer relationships.
Conduct cold calls and seek out requests for proposals for hydrovac services, sand & gravel, and slinger sales.
Monitor job boards and present proposals.
Secure new customers and develop service contracts.
Cross-sell to existing customers and revive inactive accounts.
Provide exceptional customer service and support.
Monitor market trends to forecast sales opportunities.
Collaborate with operations, quality, and finance teams to meet sales and collection targets.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Utilize existing customer and industry relationships to drive opportunities.
Lead sales strategy in the assigned territory, including prospecting, managing leads, and maintaining customer relationships.
Increase regional sales and brand recognition through extensive cold calling (phone and in-person).
Pursue new clients and customer acquisition.
Mine business opportunities from bid boards and procurement sites.
Ensure all companies are listed as approved providers for relevant municipal and industry bodies.
Identify and build relationships with decision-makers within accounts, establishing Coast as a trusted provider.
Maintain and update CRM and project management tools to develop the sales pipeline and keep the team informed.
Develop proposals and deliver strategic sales presentations (with marketing assistance).
Review target customer opportunities and provide sales strategy input, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy.
Prioritize activities and manage the territory for optimal penetration and profitability.
Prepare written proposals and deliver presentations to customers and stakeholders.
Communicate clearly with sales support and operations.
Provide accurate and timely reports, including forecasts and activity updates.
Acquire and maintain competitive market knowledge.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Assist operations with customer issues to resolution.
Build strong relationships with key customers and internal teams.
Qualification Profile
Education:
Diploma in Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience and Skill Set:
3-5 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in a comparable industry (construction, industrial, machinery, etc.) in an outbound sales role.
Proven measurable sales success- past award winner, industry reputation top earner, etc.
Hydrovac and/or aggregate sales knowledge is preferred.
Knowledge of technical drawings is an asset.
Experience in utilizing systems and tools to improve sales performance, such as CRM & Project Management, both desktop and mobile.
Demonstrated strong application user skills for Google Workspace and MS Office Suite of products, including Excel & Word. The office uses a combination of Microsoft and Google technologies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
A true team player who is willing to be coached as well as support others.
Ability to negotiate skillfully, maintain composure in tough situations without damaging relation.
Demonstrates a positive customer service attitude.
A valid driver's license is required.
Job Type:
Full-time, Monday to Friday (early starts to align with construction trade).
Combination of working in the field visiting prospects/clients and office work.
Must be able to travel on occasion (Powell River, North Vancouver Island, Gulf Islands).
Occasional customer meetings and networking events in the evenings.
This is not a work from home position.
Pay:
Commensurate to experience; Salary with option for bonus
