POSITION SUMMARY:



The Field Safety Supervisor is to provide safety supervision and organization of field-level employees and fleet assets. This includes, but is not limited to, organizational safety requirements, but also customer requirements. The Field Safety Supervisor is responsible for participating in and contributing to monthly safety meetings, which includes a review of recent incidents and the communication of any corrective actions to mitigate future incidents.

The Field Safety Supervisor is also responsible for performing investigations and reviewing accidents or incidents and reporting them to the relevant authority. They will implement preventive measures and recommend corrective actions on any unsafe conditions, materials, or equipment. The Field Safety Supervisor is responsible for the ongoing development of the safety program under the direction of the HSE Manager.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



Provides safety supervision, leadership, guidance, and training to field staff. Provides the organization of daily tasks on projects, monitoring the safety and efficiency of field employees in their tasks. Presents information to field staff and communicates effectively to organize and lead day-to-day tasks and ongoing changes to work scope. Responds in a timely, effective, and professional manner to common inquiries and complaints. Acts as a liaison between HSE, field staff, field sales, management, and clients by relaying safety messages, and information daily. Provides enforcement of fleet administration standards and vehicle operating policies. Work in conjunction with the human resources department to administer and track discipline of front-line employees and participate in employee evaluations as needed. Recommend transfers, reassignment, termination, and disciplinary actions. Conducts competency training of field personnel. Act as a strong, positive health and safety presence to maintain our health and safety culture and ensure all employees act in accordance with company policies & procedures and provincial OH&S and TDG regulations. Provide ongoing leadership and coaching to personnel in health and safety techniques, current hazard assessments, safe work practices and safety standards while being visible and approachable, with the objective of improving our efficiency and minimizing our losses. Conduct near miss, incident & accident, and employee complaint investigations to determine trends and root causes and develop corrective action plans and follow up to prevent re-occurrence (incident management). Listens to directions and suggestions from operations, supervisors, or other employees regarding safe and appropriate work practices, while being able to determine the most effective and safe solution. Conducts formal and informal worksite inspections and coordinates with staff to follow up. Conduct monthly inspections of the fire and first aid equipment at multiple locations. Maintain and update LMS system, oversee issues and make corrective procedures. Contribute information for all statistical updates and reports for PVT as required. (ie: TRIF) Attend and contribute to weekly company meetings, onboard meetings as required. Contributes to HSE meetings. Support HSE Manager with projects, implementation of new policy and procedures, consistency of current policies and procedures. Review and file safety & transportation paperwork as applicable to company and government audits. Strong communication skills, able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always. Other job duties as required, as the above duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

QUALIFICATIONS:



Formal training in the following: incident management, OH&S, safety program development, WCB, and TDG as asset. Preference will be given to candidates holding a NCSO and OHS diploma/or CRSP Certification Background in transportation and logistics and Class 1 license an asset. Valid safety certificates: Standard First Aid, H2S, CSO, Hours of Service, Log Auditing etc. Superior leadership skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and implement organizational safety objectives. Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others. Strong written and verbal skills to communicate with direct reports and all levels of the organization. Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress, and crisis situations. Strong knowledge of general office procedures. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. Oil Field Industry knowledge, as well as tank truck & fluid hauling experience & knowledge with proven success in field-level job tasks.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



Requires travel to other branch locations as well as project sites that require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel-toed boots, coveralls, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing mandatory hearing protection. Able to occasionally lift items as heavy as 50 lbs. Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals. Sitting or standing as needed, as well as walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights or below the waist as well as some lifting as required.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:



This is a full-time salaried position with 10 days on 4 days off schedule On-call responsibilities will be required as needed on a 24-hour per day basis, in accordance with the scheduled rotational schedule. Field presence is required in home location or at other assigned facilities. At least once per month travel to each business location as applicable or assigned. Office to field presents will be roughly 50/50.
