Field Project Engineer

to support our project management and field operations teams.

Position Overview

The Field Project Engineer plays a critical supporting role in the successful delivery of electrical construction projects. This position bridges office coordination and field execution, ensuring that technical information, materials, schedules, and documentation flow smoothly between all project stakeholders. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Supervisors to keep projects organized, on track, and compliant with specifications and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Assist Project Managers in planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities. Review drawings, electrical specifications, submittals, and owner-supplied equipment requirements to ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper clearances; identify conflicts or gaps early. Prepare RFIs, change order requests, and supporting documentation. Coordinate technical details for owner-supplied equipment such as switchgear, UPS units, generators, transformers, and battery systems. Maintain and update project logs, reports, redlines, and technical notes in ACC. Support procurement by performing material takeoffs, obtaining vendor quotes, and tracking deliveries. Coordinate with field teams to ensure required information, materials, and equipment are available on time. Participate in project meetings and ensure timely follow-up on assigned tasks. Assist with quality control, safety compliance, and close-out documentation. Contribute to project budgeting, cost tracking, and forecasting. Direct drafters in developing full-detail Revit drawing packages for each work area. Issue drawing packages to sub-subcontractors and confirm alignment with field conditions. Participate in pre-functional and functional testing and support commissioning activities.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience). Previous experience in electrical contracting, construction, or engineering support roles is an asset. Understanding of electrical systems, drawings, and construction processes. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with project management or estimating software is a plus. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills. Ability to work collaboratively with project managers, estimators, field staff, and subcontractors.
