We are a member owned cooperative that provides natural gas to homes, farms and businesses in the rural communities around Central Alberta. We service over 3000 customers and are run by an elected Board of Directors from the community we serve. Crossroads celebrated it's 50 year anniversary in 2023. We are part of the largest rural natural gas distribution system in the world made up of 82 gas co-ops providing essential service throughout the province. Our operations centre is located 15 minutes south of Red Deer.
Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Field Operations Manager to oversee the operations in the field ensuring projects meet safety, regulatory, financial, and scheduling requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of quality and safety while fostering a positive work environment.
Duties
Analyze the integrity of the underground infrastructure and plan what sections of gas line to upgrade
Prepare and submit Project Detail Reports as per the Rural Gas Program granting guidelines
Oversee daily and monthly natural gas volumes to balance sales vs purchases
Meet with new customers and existing landowners to plan construction routes, obtain access permissions and utility right-of-way easements
Inspect field jobs after completion and organize reclamation as needed
Assist gas customers with questions regarding construction and service jobs
Collaborate with department supervisors in monitoring inventory, ordering supplies and equipment and communicating with vendors
Manage the field technician team, schedule tasks, allocate equipment and materials to jobs and provide support at the job site when needed
Address any issues that arise in the field, find timely solutions and implement strategies
Track and evaluate the performance of field technicians
Assist in the hiring of field technicians
Ensure all field operations comply with technical standards, safety regulations and company policies
Oversee the required maintenance of equipment, vehicles, building and shop
Maintain clear communication channels with other organizational teams and the General Manager
Attend meetings with industry partners
Qualifications
Journeyperson Gasfitter Class A, Gas Utility Operator or related technical training would be an asset
Experience in natural gas distribution systems and regulated processes
5+ years of experience in a managerial role
Valid Alberta Class 5 Drivers License
Strong leadership qualities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong computer skills and proficiency with Office 365 and other applications
