The Opportunity
We are seeking a
Field Lead Supervisor
to oversee project execution, scheduling, and personnel on site. This role is key to ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery while serving as the main point of contact for clients and contractors.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Key Responsibilities
Act as the primary spokesperson on site for OCTO Mechanical.
Lead and document daily toolbox talks, morning safety discussions, and weekly safety meetings.
Source and provide technical documentation for work fronts as required.
Prepare and distribute daily progress and safety reports.
Address production and safety issues, providing effective resolutions.
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and trades to align activities.
Proactively plan work scope, ensuring materials, tooling, equipment, and permits are available.
Attend daily progress meetings with clients and contractors.
Schedule and witness quality inspections; prepare turnover documentation.
Track and report on labour, equipment, and material usage; submit to client and OCTO Accounting.
Maintain consistent communication with Head Office on project requirements.
Oversee subcontractors, arrange inspections, and manage procurement of materials.
Conduct site walk-throughs to identify safety or production concerns.
Maintain preservation, construction, and pre-commissioning documentation.
Ensure journey management and vehicle inspections are completed for crews.
Assign cleaning rosters and delegate responsibilities.
Provide detailed handover notes when required.
Collect and submit all safety-related documentation to Head Office.
Supervise and support a team of Millwrights (apprentice to journeyman).
Provide coaching, feedback, and resolution to employee or client concerns.
Collaborate with HR on employee issues.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Credentials:
Journeyman Millwright certification from an accredited institution
Mandatory safety tickets: H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS, Standard First Aid.
Safety tickets considered an asset: Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, Overhead Crane.
Additional education considered an asset: Journeyman Machinist certification.
Experience:
Minimum 5-10 years in a Millwright role.
Knowledge / Skills:
Hands-on leadership approach with strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
Advanced ability to read and interpret technical manuals, operating procedures, blueprints, and diagrams.
Strong mathematical skills for measurements, formulas, and performance calculations.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong focus on safety.
Able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of API standards and recommended installation procedures.
Manual dexterity, motor coordination, and physical strength.
