:WSP Applied Solutions Inc. has a new opportunity for a Field Environmental Advisor. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, you will implement the prime contractor environmental management program. You will oversee and provide support to the construction subcontractors during work planning and verify compliance to the EA certificate, project permits and overall Environmental Program. This is a field-based rotational position on an oil and gas project near the lower mainland of Vancouver.Why choose WSP?

  • Conduct environmental inspections, assessments and audits. Verify subcontractor compliance to the Project permits, approvals, and environmental requirements.
  • Review and provide input into subcontractor environmental management/protection plans such as Waste Management Plan, Erosion and Sediment Control Plan, Spill Contingency Plan, Environmental Monitoring Plan, etc.
  • Work with the prime contractor construction team and subcontractor construction team to assist with work planning to verify the inclusion of environment and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and provide input into subcontractor Work Plans and construction methodology for the inclusion of required environmental controls, mitigations, and best management practices.
  • Participate in investigations of environmental incidents and or regulatory non-conformance / non-compliance to identify root cause and corrective actions.
  • Participate in subcontractor environmental management plan implementation and site inspections.
  • Participate in regular meetings with client and subcontractor environmental team as requested.
  • Verify subcontractor compliance to prime contractor issued environmental authorizations/permits/approvals.
  • Participate in scope specific environmental risk assessments as requested.
  • Promote environmental awareness by participating in daily toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings and other scheduled meetings.
  • Assist with the development of environmental orientation, communication, and training.
  • Review subcontractor environmental monitoring data and tracking to identify deficiencies and areas of improvement.
  • Develop and provide positive relationships with subcontractors and client construction and environmental teams.
  • Review project permits to identify conditions that must be implemented during construction execution and work with subcontractors to verify appropriate planning, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Prepare, review, and provide input into weekly, monthly, and periodic environmental reports.
  • And other duties as assigned.
  • Working at a remote site in a camp environment; 2 weeks on, 1 week off rotation; 10 to 12 hours/day.
What you\'ll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor\'s degree or technical diploma in environmental, biological or earth sciences; equivalent combination of education and experience in related field will be considered.
  • Environmental designation (PAg, RPbio, RBTech etc.) or eligible to apply is an asset.
  • 6-10 years\' experience on major projects and field experience in implementing, reviewing, auditing, environmental management programs and subcontractor management during construction execution.
  • Familiar with relevant BC and Federal legislation and regulations.
  • Experience conducting environmental monitoring activities, inspections, and assessments, and implementing an adaptive management approach.
  • Experience in terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments verifying compliance to permit conditions, mitigations, and project commitments.
  • Experience with wildlife monitoring programs and human-wildlife conflict would be an asset.
  • Experience with the Joint Professional Practise Guidelines - Erosion and Sediment Control, February 2024.
  • Ability to travel, work extended hours, rotational shifts, and nightshift as required.
  • Attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • A team player with the ability to build strong relationships and work with construction supervision and subcontractors to solve problems.
  • A valid driver\'s license
CompensationExpected Salary (British Columbia): $80,800 - $111,100The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
