We are seeking a Field Engineer Civil to oversee and manage the construction activities of our facility project. As a Field Engineer Civil, you will be responsible for providing subcontractors and craftspeople with information and direction, ensuring that work proceeds as scheduled and meets the contract specifications. You will have the authority to interpret technical requirements and provide solutions in collaboration with the project team. Your role will also involve reviewing design drawings and specifications, providing technical direction, and offering general guidance to subcontractors.
Responsibilities:
- Provide information and direction to subcontractors and craftspeople based on contract specifications.
- Ensure that work progresses according to the schedule and meets the required standards.
- Interpret technical requirements and collaborate with the project team to provide effective solutions.
- Offer technical direction and interpretation of design drawings and specification requirements.
- Provide general guidance to subcontractors regarding overall design.
- Review, maintain records, and respond to Contractor Information Requests (CIR).
- Administer assigned subcontractors to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with the Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.
- Prepare and issue extra work authorization requests (RFMPs/WAs) with the approval of the Project Field Manager.
- Coordinate with the Field Subcontract Administrator as needed.
- Maintain a daily log for site record purposes.
- Direct and/or perform quantity take-offs to support construction planning and invoice approval.
- Review subcontractor progress payment requests for acceptance.
- Monitor technical service representative (supplier) daily logs and review/approve their timesheets.
- Compile and maintain Conformed to Construction Records drawing and list markups as assigned or directed by field engineering staff.
- Establish site document control activities for design documents.
- Assist the Field Quality Assurance Manager in performing inspections and verification of tests.
- May provide supervision, training, development, and performance management of direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards appropriate for the level of duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and manage the change associated with the implementation of improvements.
Skills:
- Proficient knowledge of cost control, scheduling, engineering drawings, and other construction-related documents.
- Advanced ability to set up and perform project control functions on smaller, less complex projects.
- Basic ability to perform material takeoffs and field estimates.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with subcontractors, project team members, and stakeholders.
Education:
- Minimum of 6 years of construction management experience in similar facility construction.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or a bachelor\'s degree plus 4 years of design experience and 6+ years of construction experience or a Bachelor\'s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
