Petrospec Engineering is currently looking for an individual with
electrical experience
, to join a field crew of 2-4 people to go out to remote customers sites for installations as a
Field Technician
or
Field Technician Assistant
depending on experience.
Most of the field work will be performed at Operators' heavy oil fields in northeast Alberta / Saskatchewan. The nature of this work is predominantly outdoors alongside multiple service companies. On-site accommodations are provided most often at the Operators' dry camps. You will be taking direction from the Field Service Supervisor and work with coiled tubing, drilling or service rigs to ensure a successful installation. It will be the crew's responsibility to ensure that the downhole instrumentation or tools have been successfully installed, tested, packed off at the wellhead and terminated into a control panel, all while ensuring the Company's level of Quality and Safety standards have been adhered to. Since this position is considered safety sensitive, a clean driver's license and periodic D&A testing is required. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrate, at all times, a commitment to a high level of safety performance.
Must be willing to travel to project sites when required.
Actively contribute to the development of new and existing procedures.
Take part in pre job planning, job preparation, job mobilization and demobilization.
Participate in the planning and executing of Electrical/instrumentation installations.
Apply troubleshooting techniques to malfunctioning equipment and unexpected field operations which may require consultation with the customer field representative and/or Operations Manager as required.
Provide positive solutions, constructive operational feedback and corrective actions to the customer field representative and/or Operations Manager as required.
Inspecting, repair & testing of electronic components & equipment.
Work on generation and power distribution systems.
Provide assistance and support to other trades team members to ensure maximum equipment availability; liaise with Operations team members.
Conduct or supervise the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems.
Competently drive and/or operate various pieces of equipment required on site and in the shop.
Responsible and accountable for pre and post vehicle and equipment inspections and proper completion of logbooks.
Perform diagnostic testing and commissioning of instrumentation.
Coordinate with the Operations Manager regarding general needs for field operations.
Inspect, service and maintain all field service equipment.
Commitment to developing and maintaining technical knowledge.
Maintain work records; assist to keep work areas clean and perform shop duties such as general clean up, pick up/deliveries, etc.
Responsible for completion and submission of all Health and Safety and Quality System documentation as required.
Qualifications
Safety conscious.
Satisfactory driver's abstract with a
minimum Class 5
driver's license.
3-5 years' industrial or oil & gas experience with some electrical experience preferred.
1st to 3rd year apprentice journeyman electrician.
Instrumentation experience is an asset.
Familiar with panel building & wiring.
The ability to read electrical drawings and create material take off list.
Mechanically inclined.
Good physical condition.
Mix of local and remote work, working outdoors in all weather conditions. When working out of town staying at camps or hotels.
This is a
safety sensitive position
where a pre-job drug/alcohol & pre-access screening is required. Other drug/alcohol testing includes Post Incident, Reasonable Cause and Random Testing program.
Compensation: $75,000 - $110,000+ / per year
