About the Opportunity

Ecofor is currently seeking a Field Biologist to join our team. Our preference is for candidates to be based out of Fort St James, Fort St John, and Prince George, BC. However, we will consider candidates that reside outside these areas in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, or Yukon Territory.

Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Leading and joining field teams in various disciplines (wildlife, birds, fish, aquatic habitat, water quality, vegetation, soils, wetlands, environmental monitoring, sediment, and erosion control).
  • Contributing to environmental impact assessments, environmental permit applications, environmental protection plans, mitigation plans, and proposals. Assisting in preparing and obtaining regulatory approvals for a wide variety of projects such as transportation, renewable energy, mining, oil, and gas, etc.
  • Liaising with regulators and clients to provide quality work that engages Indigenous communities and stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key clients, identifying new opportunities for support and growth.
  • Supporting the Ecofor team\'s workload and resource management. Senior level responsibilities could include Field Coordination and Project Management.
  • Primarily field-based (on-site) role with both field and office tasks, providing leadership and mentorship within a team environment.
  • Promoting a strong safety culture and working collaboratively within Ecofor\'s corporate culture
More About You

To qualify, you will need a minimum of a B.Sc. in Biology or related discipline with 5-10 years\' experience, and RPBio, PBiol, and/or P.Ag. designation or eligibility.

Candidates with the following skills and experience will be considered:
  • 5 years of relevant experience in industrial projects (experience as a consultant would be an asset).
  • Sound knowledge of field techniques and regulatory standards necessary for conducting a variety of field activities (i.e., wildlife assessments, bird surveys, water quality, fisheries inventories/ salvage, environmental monitoring/inspection).
  • Knowledge of the provincial and federal environmental assessment regulatory environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, time management skills and physically fit.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, desire to grow business, and work closely (both in a field lead and support role) with other environmental professionals, environmental discipline leads, and First Nations.
  • Proficiency in the operation of field equipment and Project Management skills would be assets.
  • Electrofishing Certification (approved by WorkSafe BC) is an asset.
Due to the nature of the role, you must have a valid Driver\'s License.
