We are currently seeking experienced Fiber Splicers to join our team. We are also willing to provide training for suitable candidates.
Responsibilities
Splice and test fiber optic cables in all outside plant applications - aerial, burial and underground, on both newly placed and existing cables.
Analyze test results and the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects.
Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans.
Read and interpret work plans or job specifications to execute all work assigned safely and in accordance to our Health and Safety policy.
Work outdoors in various conditions to splice fiber optic telecommunication cables.
Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
Accurately record and report project progress to the appropriate supervisory person and communicate any issues or expected delays.
Climb poles and work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet.
Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of splicing experience required
Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
Holds a valid Ontario full G license
Able to complete the necessary training for working at heights and confined space, pass the corresponding examinations and receive a client authorization number as required
Able to lift up to 80lbs
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Competency in OTDR and other testing protocol
Good communication skills with the ability to work independently or in a team
Demonstrated commitment to health and safety and willing to receive applicable Health and Safety training as per legislative and job requirements
Must be able to provide a clear criminal record check and a clean driver's abstract
Must be able to work various shifts as projects dictate (days, occasional nights, occasional weekends) and willing to participate in our on call program.
