Job Description

Children's Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following position:



One Full-Time Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Worker



Union Position - 35 hours per week



Benefits, Pension & Vacation


Salary: Hourly $32.31 - $39.31




Responsibilities:





The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Worker will deliver child, youth and family-centred service to children and youth with FASD and/or suspected FASD and their families by leading the development of a strength-based support plan for children and youth with FASD or suspected FASD. The FASD worker will work with the family, service providers and educators to build capacity for supporting the child/youth and identify strategies to meet the specific needs of the child/youth and family based on the best available evidence of FASD supports. The FASD worker will connect children and youth with FASD, their families and service providers to interventions and supports including those developed through the other components of the FASD Strategy.

Qualifications

:



The Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Worker requires:


A degree in Social Worker at the Honours Level. Consideration may be given for degrees in the human services field (such as Early Childhood Studies). A post-diploma certificate in FASD Studies would be considered an asset. Three years' experience working directly with children and families who require education, support and treatment with respect to FASD. Knowledge of FASD including assessment, developmental concerns, social needs and FASD informed interventions. Knowledge of the range of theories applicable to child development. A Must be able to work flexible hours including days, evenings, and weekends. Travel to the District may be required. A valid Ontario Driver's License.
