The Feedlot Worker may be involved in all aspects of day-to-day feedlot operation, including but not limited to monitoring and maintaining cattle health and welfare, cattle feeding, equipment operation and maintenance, fabrication and maintenance of infrastructure, and general yard upkeep. Feedlot Workers play a vital role in maintaining the overall efficiency and welfare standards of the operation, working outdoors in all weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain all aspects of cattle health and welfare including preventing and treating illness and injury, feeding, cleaning pens and water bowls, etc.
Operate and maintain various equipment, tools and machinery such as tractors, loaders, skid steers, excavators, etc.
Upkeep, maintenance and fabrication of farm infrastructure such as pens, fences, feed bunks, alleys, roadways, etc.
Follow all company policies, procedures and codes of practice, displaying constant commitment to health and safety
Any duties as otherwise assigned
Qualifications
Previous farm, feedlot and/or livestock experience is an asset
Experience operating and maintaining equipment
Reliable and committed, works well both in a team and independently
Willingness to learn
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
Strong communication skills
Valid Class 5 Driver's License, or the ability to acquire one
Work Environment & Compensation
Full-time schedule with early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed
Exposure to dust, noise, cattle, and varying weather conditions
Competitive hourly wage based on experience
