Feature Tester - Telecom Network
Contract | Start: Immediate | Onsite
About the Role
We are seeking a Feature Tester to join our telecom network testing team based in Mississauga, Ontario. This is an onsite contract opportunity with an immediate start date.
The Feature Tester will be responsible for verifying new and existing network features in both lab and field environments. The role involves analyzing requirements, designing test cases, executing manual and automated tests, documenting results, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure product quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze requirements and specifications to design detailed test cases and define test coverage.
Prepare a comprehensive list of testing prerequisites including tools, lab equipment, and configurations.
Execute test cases manually or through automated scripts and accurately record test outcomes.
Document and track software defects, follow up on resolutions, and update testing reports accordingly.
Generate daily and final test reports summarizing test progress, results, and open issues.
Perform first-level troubleshooting and identify whether issues are related to functionality, configuration, or environment.
Configure and maintain lab environments for assigned features, including performing node recovery and reconfiguration when required.
Collaborate closely with project leads, development, and integration teams to ensure timely issue resolution and test completion.
Required Technical Skills
Strong understanding of telecom network technologies (GSM, UMTS, LTE, and 5G).
Experience with testing tools such as TEMS Investigation, Nemo, Viavi, or similar.
Hands-on experience with Ericsson ENM/OSS, Network Explorer, or Alarm Viewer tools.
Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems and basic IP networking (SSH, FTP, connectivity setup).
Experience using protocol analyzers (e.g., Wireshark, QXDM, or equivalent).
Familiarity with Moshell or other telecom configuration command-line interfaces.
Knowledge of core network elements (MME, HSS, SGSN, MSC, MGW, PGW, SGW).
Strong troubleshooting and tracing skills to isolate and diagnose network or software issues.
Experience with scripting (Python or Shell) is an asset.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Background in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Prior experience in network feature testing, integration, or verification within a telecom environment.
Ability to work independently in a lab environment and collaborate across engineering teams.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and methodical approach to problem solving.
Excellent written communication skills for test documentation and reporting.
