POSITION SUMMARY



This is a part-time, seasonal position. We are looking for an individual to help with farming during planting and harvest season

The Farm Operator will have established practical experience with a passion for farming. Primary responsibilities will include supporting the production and harvest of field crops and pedigreed seed (i.e., corn, wheat and soybeans). This role will report directly to the President of the Company and may additionally include operating, installing and repairing machinery and equipment. The Farm Operator will have a focus on quality, productivity and safety. The ideal candidate is adaptable to changing needs in agriculture, motivated, reliable and has a commitment to producing high quality seed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



- Operate farm machinery and assist with field crop production duties as needed (i.e., planting, spraying, harvest and other field work tasks).

- Assist in inspecting and performing routine troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and repairs on farm equipment, as needed.

- Assist with emergency breakdowns for company fleet that include commercial trucks, cargo vans, trailers and farm machinery, as needed.

- Participate in required equipment training programs and maintain a current knowledge of all equipment and services.

- Other duties as required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS



- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license, clean driver's abstract and means of daily/reliable transportation to and from our main location in Dover Centre (A, AZ or DZ license not required but considered an asset).

- Ability to work in a quality, results driven and fast paced work environment.

- Must be able to accommodate scheduling flexibility and work extended hours during peak agriculture periods (including weekends), when required.

- Knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.

- Be prepared and punctual for all scheduled assignments.

- Stay up to date and adapt to changes in the workplace and in the agricultural industry.

- Be positive and courteous at all times, while maintaining a professional demeanor; be an ambassador for Devolder Farms Inc.

- Complete required reports/administrative work immediately or as required throughout shift, as needed.

- Ability to work in outdoor work environments and various weather conditions (i.e., hot/humid and cold work elements).

- Physically able to perform any and all work activities, including but not limited to standing/sitting for long periods of time, handling sharp steel products, individually lifting and carrying heavy objects (team lifting up to 100 lbs.), bending, climbing, reaching, and twisting.

- Willingness to work at heights preferred; valid training certification is an asset.

- Participate in compulsory training as deemed necessary for the role.

- CSA steel toed construction grade safety boots in designated area(s).

- Solid understanding and compliance with all administrative and applicable health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.

- Means of daily/reliable transportation.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS



- Two + years of agriculture related experience preferred.

- Solid understanding of agronomy is considered an asset.

- Valid Grower Pesticide safety certification is considered an asset.

- Familiarity with Precision Ag equipment and technology is an asset.

- Mechanically and technically inclined with an understanding of electrical, hydraulic and computerized equipment applications (i.e., computer literate, competent user of iPad and iPhone is considered an asset).

- Previous experience with equipment installations, troubleshooting, repairs and/or diagnostic skills is an asset.

- Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, field maps and other relevant specifications.

- Previous experience with various types of welding or fabrication work is an asset.

- Fluent in the safe operation and use of farm machinery and equipment.

- Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure, while exercising good judgment.

- Strong mathematical knowledge.

- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to follow instructions.

- Demonstrates analytical and problem solving skills.

- Highly motivated with extreme attention to detail and accuracy.

- Ability to collaborate and work with others.

- Autonomous, honest and trustworthy.
