Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Farm Manager to oversee daily operations on our sod farm. The ideal candidate will possess an understanding of farming practices, experience operating a farm tractor or heavy equipment, strong attention to detail and teamwork. This role is crucial in ensuring the farm runs efficiently while maximizing productivity and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day farm operations, including planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops. Supervise farm workers, providing guidance and training on best practices and safety protocols. Maintain and repair farm machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance. Plan and implement irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of crops. Utilize hand tools and power tools effectively for various farming tasks. Oversee the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and other chemicals in accordance with safety regulations. Monitor crop health and soil conditions, making adjustments as necessary to improve yield. Maintain accurate records of farm activities, including crop production data and equipment maintenance logs. Perform heavy lifting as needed for planting, harvesting, and transporting materials.

Skills

Proficient in basic math for measuring and calculating quantities related to farming tasks. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain farm machinery effectively. Experience operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Ability to work with hand tools and power tools for various agricultural tasks. Knowledge of irrigation techniques to ensure optimal water usage for crops. Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and work long hours in varying weather conditions. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
