Flower Farming Internship ***As part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program, you must meet the following eligibility requirements: - be between the ages of 15-30 years old - be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident*** We are looking for an intern who enjoys gardening and flowers, and who is eager to learn about small-scale flower farming: field preparation and clean up, sowing, transplanting, growing, harvesting, conditioning, interacting with customers, assisting with events and many other farm-related skills.
Internship time:
* July-August 2023, with the exact dates TBD.
* Intern can expect to work about 30 hours a week, with flexibility to complete those hours through the week including an occasional shift on weekends. Qualifications and requirements:
* Funding is provided by the government of Canada for this position through the Canada Summer jobs program so you must meet the Eligibility requirements.
* Experience is not necessary but a strong interest in farming is essential along with a strong work ethic
* Good physical condition (ability to lift and carry buckets full of flowers) and ability to work efficiently and outdoors in all weather conditions
* Intern must have its own reliable transportation to/from the farm in Strathcona County Benefits:
Intern will receive mentorship and on-the-job training, and can expect to learn the ins and outs of flower farming. Intern will be given beautiful fresh flowers on a regular basis. Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
