About Us



At Solar Sheep Inc, we leverage our livestock-first approach to meet vegetation management objectives, while enhancing soil health and providing multiple environmental benefits. By utilizing rotational grazing with sheep, we aim to integrate grazing and conventional methods with solar photovoltaics to ensure efficient land use and sustainable land management.



We are seeking a dedicated Shepherd to assist in managing our seasonal targeted grazing and winter farming operations. This role involves working closely with livestock (sheep), monitoring vegetation, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with clients to ensure effective land management solutions. This position will provide exposure to multispecies grazing, including sheep, pigs, and poultry.

Key Responsibilities:



Assist with daily sheep care, including health monitoring and treatments, and moving flocks solar sites. Monitor vegetation conditions and assess grazing effectiveness. Set up and maintain electric fencing and water systems. Ensure safe livestock transport and humane handling of animals. Maintain records related to grazing patterns, livestock health, and land conditions. Daily ration balancing and feeding of sheep. Breeding, lambing assistance, and care of newborn lambs. General farm labor, and other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills:



Experience working with livestock, is preferred, but willing to train. Knowledge of rotational grazing, regenerative agriculture, or agrivoltaics is a plus. Ability to work independently and adapt to outdoor conditions in various weather. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude for basic repairs. Valid driver's license, willingness to travel between project sites, and work in remote areas. Valid CPR/First Aid Certification Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and attention to safety. Equipment operation (Skid Steer, TMR Mixer, UTV, commercial mower).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
