Job Description
Horse Farm Hand Salary: Job Type: 6-day work week, 40 hours total Start date: As soon as possible We are looking for a full-time person to take point on the day-to-day care of horses and the grounds of a small horse farm in King, Ontario. The successful candidate is mature and reliable with horse experience and their own transportation. There is no public transportation available. Horse Duties include:
- Turning horses in and out of the paddocks morning and evening
- Mucking out stalls daily
- Ensuring clean water is always available to the horses
- Feeding as directed
- Blanketing and fly masks
- Keeping the barn clean, organized, and well-maintained
- Facilitating farrier and veterinarian visits as well as horse trailering as needed
- Monitoring horse health and reporting to farm owner as needed
- Occasionally handling feed supply runs and other errands
- Mowing lawns and pastures as needed
- Using small tractors, lawn mowers, and other equipment as needed
- Snow removal in winter using farm equipment
- Ability to take initiative to recognize issues with horses or farm and bring them to the attention of the owner, ideally with suggestions to resolve them
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with horses
- Ability to use small machinery (such as tractors, lawn mowers, etc.)
- Proficient in English.
- Casual dress
- On-site parking
