The Raptors is seeking a Farm & Animal Care Assistant to join our team! We are a birds of prey organization with the goal of encouraging conservation through education, with a partnership dedicated to sustainable farming and food production at our nearby farm. We are looking for a Farm & Animal Care Assistant, based primarily at our farm property in the Cowichan Valley, as well as working out of our visitor centre in Duncan. This person would be responsible for assisting with the care and management of food production animals and rescue animals at the farm, assisting with farm property upkeep and projects, assisting with horticultural projects, and working at the visitor centre to facilitate hands-on experiences and educate guests. The suitable candidate would have: \xc2\xb7 Experience with basic animal husbandry \xc2\xb7 Farming experience (including crop/animal care, use of heavy equipment, etc.) \xc2\xb7 Ability to be adaptable to working on multiple projects \xc2\xb7 Strong work ethic \xc2\xb7 Attention to detail \xc2\xb7 Passion for environmental conservation and green methods of cultivation \xc2\xb7 Passion for wildlife and wildlife friendly farming practices \xc2\xb7 A positive attitude and demeanour Exceptional candidates may also possess the following: \xc2\xb7 Horticulture experience \xc2\xb7 Post-secondary education in a relevant field (biology, agriculture, horticulture, etc.) \xc2\xb7 Outdoor field skills \xc2\xb7 First aid training and experience \xc2\xb7 Public speaking and/or education experience \xc2\xb7 Produce marketing experience (e.g., Farmer\xe2\x80\x99s Markets, etc.) This is a full-time, seasonal position, with the potential to transfer to a permanent position for the right candidate.
