The Opportunity





We are seeking a passionate and committed Family Therapist to join our family programs team. Family Therapists provide assessment, treatment planning and implementation for adults, children, youth, couples, and families. This is done working in collaboration with other service professionals in the community who are involved with the family. The position aids clients in identifying, understanding and overcoming social/emotional/behavioral functioning by establishing and achieving realistic goals.


What You Will Do




Work from a person-centered framework based on best practices. Develop and implement interventions according to specific and time sensitive goals, providing individual and group counselling interventions to address identified plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of clients' progress, resolve identified barriers, and move toward defined objectives. Therapy goals commonly encompass change surrounding managing mood, parenting, relationship skills, emotional regulation, and trauma. Work closely with community professionals to provide effective collaboration and case management through a multidisciplinary team. Provide support for clients while they are in the program and, as appropriate, provide follow up support to them upon leaving the program. Provide liaison and education to other professionals, and the community. Plan and implement therapeutic/skills groups according to community needs and personal competencies/interests. Conduct written client assessments and reports. Maintain case management and service records in accordance with accreditation standards. Provide reports and discuss case planning/concerns with clinicians, social workers and other community partners as required. Maintain a thorough knowledge of community resources. Act as an advocate for the client and assist them in finding community resources to meet their needs.

What We Are Looking For




A Master's degree in counselling, social work, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience At least three years of relevant work experience in a similar environment with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds Direct program delivery experience in the community social services sector with a demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs and related provincial and community support systems is preferred Demonstrated knowledge of formal counselling and assessment techniques, and group process and facilitation techniques Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written communication skills Good organization, time and case management skills An ability to work effectively with team members, therapists, social workers, and other related staff Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours, depending on clients' availability Valid First-Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certifications Ability to pass a Criminal Records check with vulnerable sector clearance Fluency in a second language is an asset A valid driver's license would be an asset
