Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Delegated Aboriginal Agency governed by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Board. KKCFSS is available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Metis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory.

The Opportunity:
The Family Support Worker provides culturally rooted, hands-on support to families, children and youth to promote wellness, connection and resilience. This position supports families through individual and group work that strengthens cultural identity, addresses goals set in family plans and promotes access to needed services. The role emphasizes early intervention and preventative approaches, rooted in the values and traditions of Indigenous communities.
In the Role as Family Support Worker, You Will:
Provide 1:1 support to youth and facilitate group-based cultural, wellness and life skills activities.
Conduct needs assessments for individuals and families.
Assist with the development and implementation of Family Support Plans.
Implement strategies aligned with family-identified goals and cultural values.
Coordinate with internal and external partners including child and family service providers, schools and health professionals.
Advocate for children, youth and families within social and health systems.
Make referrals to appropriate community services and support programs.
Complete home visits across the Ktunaxa ?amak?is.
Assist in planning and delivering workshops, events, and gatherings that promote family wellness and cultural connection.
Maintain accurate and confidential client documentation and records.
Participate in team meetings, supervision and training opportunities.
Perform other duties as required.
What You Will Bring to the Role:
Two-year diploma in Human Service Work, Early Childhood Education or a Certificate in Social Work
Two to Three years of related experience
Working knowledge of Child Development
Experience working with families at risk
Ability to work independently and within a team
Sound knowledge of aboriginal issues both historical and current in British Columbia and Canada
A commitment to confidentiality
A valid drivers' license and reliable vehicle available at work
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Self-direction, flexibility and creativity
Ability to work modified work schedule
