Territory in the Fraser Valley between Yale First Nation and Surrey BC.

Family Strengthening Team Leader - 1763

Full-Time Position - Langley

Collaborative Practices Team

Salary- $

85,565.62

to $97,635.82

per annum (35 hrs per week)

POSITION SUMMARY:



Family Strengthening Team Leaders provide direction, leadership, and support to staff within their team for professional and integrated services delivery and ensure adequate support is provided as well as a broad range of staff training and development. Working closely with teams, the team leader will utilize their child welfare experience to assist in assessing the strengths and risks associated with the connections that are being supported and determining the level of intervention or support that is required for each family as a result of these assessments.


The Family Strengthening program recognizes the importance of keeping children who are in foster care connected to their families by promoting meaningful family time through supported family visits. The program provides families with support - not just supervision - and constructive, strengths-based feedback to help them have successful visits. The focus is on the facilitation of family growth and development, providing assistance in parental skill development and delivering support and family education programs as identified by a referral/assessment of the needs of the family. Ongoing evaluation and assessment of strengths and risks for families involved with the program is necessary to ensure adequate support/education is provided.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:



Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Child and Youth Care or Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in a related human services field is preferred. However significant cultural knowledge, ability to develop or has already developed respectable relationships with Sto:l? Indigenous communities and equivalent combination of education and personal experience may be accepted. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Demonstrated abilities and experience in: developing strong working relationships with children, families, Indigenous communities, foster parents, biological parents, and other FVACFSS employees; developing contractual arrangements with clients, caregivers, and other professionals; balancing competing priorities; working under pressure; writing concise reports to various audiences; representing and promoting FVACFSS; and conducting investigations, completing assessments, developing work plans, implementing plans and evaluating intervention success Professional commitment, flexibility, good problem solving and dispute resolution skills Computer literacy on databases, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other computer software Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License (no restrictions); reliable transportation with adequate vehicle insurance Must successfully pass a criminal records check This is an excellent opportunity for staff to gain experience and develop professionally towards advancing into other career options
