The Family Preservation Support Worker plays a crucial role in providing assistance and resources to families in need. This position focuses on empowering families by facilitating access to essential services, promoting healthy family dynamics, and supporting children's development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with Long Plain First Nations diverse populations and will be dedicated to fostering positive relationships within the community.
Responsibilities
Provide direct support and guidance to families, helping them navigate available resources and services.
Collaborate with social service agencies, schools, and community organizations to coordinate care and support for families.
Conduct assessments to identify family needs and develop individualized support plans.
Facilitate workshops and educational programs aimed at enhancing parenting skills and family cohesion.
Advocate for families' rights and needs within various systems, including education and healthcare.
Maintain accurate records of interactions with families and report on progress towards goals.
Foster a safe and supportive environment for children, ensuring their well-being is prioritized.
Skills
Experience working with children & their families is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with families and community partners.
Ability to build rapport quickly with diverse populations while demonstrating empathy and understanding.
Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
Problem-solving skills to address challenges faced by families in a proactive manner.
