McMan's Family Intervention Program is seeking an experienced Family Preservation Worker to support Indigenous communities, including Enoch Cree Nation, Paul First Nation, Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation, and the Metis Settlements. If you have strong knowledge of Indigenous communities, family dynamics, addictions, domestic violence, and mental health--and you're passionate about making a meaningful difference--this may be the role for you. In this position, you will provide families with the support, skills, and information they need to thrive within their community. Responsibilities include individual and group counselling, overall case management, and coordinating services and activities for children, youth, and families within program guidelines.
Hours:
40 Hours per Week (Includes occasional weekends and evenings as needed)
Location:
Edmonton, Alberta.
What you'll do:
Develop effective working relationships with families and the community.
Develop strong partnerships with a multi-disciplinary team.
Provide non-clinical counseling and mediation.
Create comprehensive reports using Microsoft Office programs.
Foster open-mindedness and maintain healthy, supportive relationships.
Provide crisis management support as needed.
Offer support and guidance to youth and families.
Support competency skill development for all members of the family.
Design and implement effective interventions for children, youth, and families.
Fulfill on-call and frontline responsibilities as required.
What you bring:
Completion of Degree or Diploma in the Human Services field.
Six (6) months of directly related experience in youth and/or family work.
Equivalencies may be considered.
Police Information Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months).
Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months).
Strong counseling, mediation, crisis intervention, program planning, leadership and communication skills.
Strong assessment and intervention skills; ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of family dynamics, addiction, domestic violence, mental health disorders and complex behaviors.
Excellent knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act.
An understanding of Collaborative Service Delivery and Signs of Safety are an asset.
Emergency First Aid--Level C CPR + AED.
A minimum of three years' driving experience with a valid Class 5 driver's license, current driver's abstract, reliable vehicle and auto insurance ($2 Million) and comfort with driving to various locations
are required.
CARE training
Computer/Word processing skills.
