There are diverse opportunities available to practice Family Medicine, spanning across urban and rural settings, locum or full-time. Depending on your interests, you can choose to practice in specific areas or integrate a focused practice:

• Community-based Family Medicine (GP) clinics
• Family care teams - collaborative/interdisciplinary
• Emergency coverage 24/7 (on-site and/or after-hours calls)
• Health care facilities operated by Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS)
• Long-term care

Compensation & Incentives
Family medicine compensation is competitive and varies based on the nature of your work and location. There are opportunities to suit your preferred payment method. Your total renumeration is influenced by many things including whether you choose to work part-time vs. full-time, the type of practice you have, the scope of services you provide and the community of your practice. Family medicine payment models include salaried, fee-for-service (FFS), per hour (emergency room rate) or blended capitation.

We offer competitive incentives of xc2xa3270K up to xc2xa3390K for Family Medicine (GP) physicians that recognize your passion, dedication and all that you will bring to our communities. Qualifications
Recent changes to registration and licensure have reduced barriers and allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province faster. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) regulates the practice of medicine in the public interest. Newfoundland and Labrador has been diligently working to reduce barriers and to allow doctors with comparable credentials to work in our province more quickly.
New approved licensure jurisdiction pathways for family physicians from Ireland, U.K., United States of America (USA), and Australia, as well as others approved by the CPSNL. Individuals must be trained and certified from these countries.
Practice Ready Assessment: For IMG's who are deemed eligible for a provincial license and not part of the approved licensure jurisdiction pathways, a 12-week clinical field assessment (CFA) that must be successfully completed prior to issuance of a license. Financial support to complete the PRA program is available with a return-in-service to the province.
