Come work as a Family Physician !

Do you know the short and long term benefits and side effects associated with medical cannabis use? With legalization of recreational marijuana upon us, our patients are inevitably accessing cannabis, but our understanding of it is still limited. This clinic will focus on studying realistic indications for Cannabis in Medicine, study its short and long term benefits and side effects, and will collaborate with other health care colleagues (e.g. rehab) to ascertain whether cannabis has a role in other areas of Medicine. The goal is to come to a better understanding of medical cannabis as a Medical community.

Come join our exciting group of General Practitioners, Academic Complex Care Specialists, RN/LPNs, Clinical Pharmacists, and Cannabis Coaches as we explore the evolving world of medicinal Cannabis together in a shared-care team-based approach. Our model is being recognized in BC, across Canada, and even internationally. We collaborate with community GPs, academic Rheumatologists, and academic epilepsy clinics, to name a few. We are in the process of running a clinical trial looking at CBD vs Naproxen in the treatment of mechanical back pain and in the near future will begin a trial exploring cannabis in women\xe2\x80\x99s health. No prior knowledge of Medical Cannabis is necessary as training will be provided by a General Internist/Complex Care Specialist. This clinic is NOT a dispensary and will NOT sell any product. We work directly with the patient to assess their candidacy for Medical Cannabis use then match them with an appropriate Health Canada Licensed Producer based on their medical needs. We also help them apply for compassionate care pricing, if needed.

Unique to this clinic is the shared-care team-based model. For patients accessing Medical Cannabis with pre-existing co-morbidities (e.g. chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, ischemic heart disease, liver disease, etc), they can be referred to a Complex Care Specialist within the clinic to help in management when using Cannabis. A Clinical Pharmacist performs a medication review on all patients to assess for cannabis-medication interactions. The clinic EMR integrates all the multi-disciplinary notes, with every provider having access to each other\xe2\x80\x99s impression, and has an online patient intake questionnaire, all of which will be completed prior to seeing the physician. The clinic is streamlined to ensure efficient work flow, without rushing the patient through, and still allow delivery of outstanding medical care. All of these services are provided to the patient (and physician) FREE OF CHARGE.
