About This Opportunity

The Kearney Lake Primary Care Clinic will provide physicians with the opportunity to work within a Nova Scotia Health managed, turn-key practice with a team of healthcare professionals such as Nurse Practitioners and Family Practice nurses to support patient care. With a supportive administrative team that includes four booking clerks, and administrative Team Lead and a Health Services Manager to support operational, scheduling, and billing needs, you can focus on what\'s important: providing patient care. This clinic supports care to both attached and unattached patients connect to Virtual Care Nova Scotia. This clinic will function in partnership model with other Primary Care Clinics across the zone. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, excluding all holidays, evenings and weekends. Hours of work are 37.5 per week.

The EMR in use is MedAccess

An interim site is fully operational and is located at 998 Parkland Drive in Halifax. The newly constructed Bayer\'s Lake Outpatient Center (BLOC) will be the permanent health home of the Kearney Lake Primary Care Clinic. The team will move in on or before November 20,2023.

This positions reports to the Head, Department of Family Practice, Central Zone for their professional and clinical activities, and is supported by the Primary Health Care management team for administrative activities delivered for the Program

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patient on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners\'
  • Act as a patient\'s advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculation and vaccinations
  • Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
