About This Opportunity
Roseway Hospital (RH), in Shelburne is seeking family medicine physicians to provide inpatient hospital coverage for one week per month, including nightly call from Monday through Sunday night, at a rate of approximately $8000/week (inclusive of call fees) on the Community Hospital In-patient Program. RH has 19 inpatient beds with patients of mixed acuity and provides a rewarding work experience. Physicians at RH work closely with other health care facilities in Yarmouth, Kentville, Liverpool, Bridgewater, and Halifax. The setting for our program is the RH, which is a friendly and collegial workplace where everyone actually does know your name. The hospital houses a 24 hour level 3 Emergency Department and provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite programs, skilled nursing staff and Helipad for emergency airlift to Halifax. Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
be accountable for management of your panel of hospitalist patients
provide care and coordination of community-based care, and secondary and tertiary level heath care
operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
Expected Hours
While on hospitalist for the week you will be on call for your patients 24/7 (usually minimal calls overnight and rarely called in to the hospital in the evening). The position will require coverage for 1 or 2 weeks per 4 week cycle (1:4 or 2:4). If you desire, there is the potential to work additional weeks of hospitalist as availability permits, and there may be additional work opportunities in the primary care clinic, ER shifts, or locuming in local family doctor offices during your weeks off from hospitalist duties.
Qualifications
all applicants must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), or proof of alternative coverage
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
