Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Family Lawyer with a minimum of 4 years of family law experience to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in family law and related areas, demonstrating expertise in various legal practices. This role involves providing legal advice, representation, and support to clients navigating family-related legal matters, ensuring their rights are protected throughout the process, attending Court appearances, and managing client files.

Duties

Represent clients in family law cases, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, complex property matters, and variation proceedings. Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to support case strategies. Draft and file legal documents, including petitions, motions, and agreements. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients while advocating for their best interests. Provide guidance on estate planning and related issues as they pertain to family law. Collaborate with other Counsel in areas such as immigration law, landlord-tenant law, employment law, personal injury law, and workers' compensation law when necessary. Work with finance and business professionals when required by the facts of each case. Maintain accurate records of client interactions and case progress within the law office. Stay updated on changes in family law regulations and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the state bar association and active license to practice law. Proven experience in family law with a solid understanding of litigation processes. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients. Excellent writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence. Proficient in legal research techniques and tools such as LexisNexis, CanLii, and Westlaw. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual caseloads efficiently.
