COMOX MILITARY FAMILY RESOURCE CENTRE JOB OPENING
The Comox Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is currently looking for a candidate to fill the Position of: Family Counsellor JOB DESCRIPTION The Family Counsellor offers short-term support to individuals and families in crisis. This includes, but is not limited to, family violence, child abuse, critical incidents, suicidal ideation and depression, bereavement, marital issues, separation and divorce issues, special needs, severe behaviour disorders, family of origin dysfunction, substance abuse, blended families, families who are coping with illness, injury or death, and other military lifestyle issues. They coordinate and provide referral and advocacy for clients requiring specialized and professional services within the community. They support families in person or through other mediums in one on one, couples, families, or group environments, as required. This position will act as an advocate on behalf families coping with illness, injury, loss, special needs and/or systemic issues. In addition, they provide family case management and resource coordination in meeting family needs. https://cfmws.ca/comox/mfrc/employment REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum of a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in relevant Mental Health field (e.g. Social Work, Counselling, Psychotherapy, Psychology, or a related field) and be eligible and registered with their professional body. (I.e. Board of Registration for Social Workers in British Columbia)
• Several years of experience providing direct services in social work, counselling, or related field,
• Mental Health First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Crisis Intervention training would be an asset
• Proven ability in assessment and referral, group facilitation and program development
• Exceptional understanding of the unique challenges facing families
• Ability to speak French would be an asset
• Believes in and practices the mission, vision and goals of the MFRC
• Ability to work as a positive member of the MFRC team, facilitating a team environment through personal behaviour, work contributions and the sharing of experience and knowledge
• Participates in the developing of new ideas and methods for program enhancement and has the ability to adjust and adapt to changes
• Maintains a constant awareness of the \xe2\x80\x9cclient\xe2\x80\x9d and exhibits recognition and appreciation of their needs with the ability to achieve results with positive outcomes for individuals and families accessing the MFRC
• Ability to meet deadlines in a timely and efficient manner
• Willingness to work flexible hours in order to better serve our families
• Appreciation and demonstration of an appropriate understanding of confidentiality and privacy.
• Utilizes sensitivity and tact in dealing with people under stressful conditions
• Ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs effectively
• Attends staff meetings, training, professional development and team building as required

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Hourly wage negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Compensation package includes:
