Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Care Manager of School Based Services, Children, Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health, the Family Counsellor will provide expert consultation and treatment for adolescents with complex mental health disorders. This position serves students identified with complex needs, and will focus on providing a collaborative, transdisciplinary enhanced services approach. This position will work closely with other AHS programs and community providers. The Family Counsellor provides mental health assessment, diagnosis, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children and their families. This position will require frequent contact with the youth, their parents or guardians and other professionals in the community. This position will be daytime shift, Monday-Friday. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Provide high quality care by being an effective liaison between the school, child, family and other health partners. Collaborate with school providers and the family to assess and develop treatment plans. Ensure that physicians and other relevant partners are involved in assessment and care. Communicate effectively with school-based providers and the care team to facilitate access to timely treatment changes. Provide mental health interventions as the treatment plan indicates and collaborate with school staff to plan appropriate follow-up.Description:As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:Completion of master\'s degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Master\'s degree in Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing with considerable experience in mental health assessment and intervention. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered. Registration in a professional regulatory body as defined by the Health Professions Act (CARNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW). Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and designation as a Clinical Social Worker is preferred. Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. 3-5 years of direct clinical experience with the focus on children, youth and their families, preferably in a community mental health setting. Formal training in a therapeutic modality of intervention may include, but is not limited to, Solution focused Therapy, CBT, Narrative, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, etc. Proficiency with computers, including MS Office Suite. Experience in Suicide Risk Management (assessment and intervention). Current CPR certification. Non Violent Crisis Intervention Training. Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience working with trauma. Previous experience working with Child and Family Services and/or Multicultural groups, such as community, friendship, or settlement services.
