Reporting to the Care Manager of the Stollery Mental Health Program, Children, Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health, the Family Counsellor will provide family intervention for children and youth with complex mental health needs. The Family Counsellor provides mental health intervention, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children and their families. This position will require frequent contact with the youth, their parents or guardians and other professionals in the community.
Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications: Master\'s degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college. Additional Required Qualifications: To be successful in this role, you will have strong organization skills and thrive on being self-directed in your work. You will demonstrate a high degree of independence and have adept communication and assessment skills. You will be comfortable navigating the complexities of working across different systems and working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and families. This will include building relationships and trust in non-traditional ways and identifying alternate solutions to provide support. A minimum of three (3) years clinical child and adolescent mental health experience within the last five (5) years. Previous experience providing family intervention for children/adolescents and caregivers with complex mental health needs. Previous formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health. Previous experience with crisis management. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Occupational Therapy, Psychology or Social Work (clinical specialization) who have Psychosocial Intervention Authorization with considerable experience in mental health assessment & provision of psychotherapy. Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Registration with Appropriate Regulatory College under the HPA. CPR, NVCI training. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Connect Care system.
