Your Opportunity:
The Pregnancy and Infant Loss Program at the Foothills Medical Centre is seeking an experienced family counsellor. Reporting to the Unit Manager, Women's Health Ambulatory Care, this position provides counselling and bereavement support to parents and families experiencing a miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss or interruption of pregnancy. This position requires advanced knowledge and experience in the areas of trauma and grief support within an outpatient setting. The role works independently within a full scope of practice, and requires demonstrated flexibility, exemplary patient support, team collaboration and communication, as well as a passion for grief and loss.
Description:
As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Social Work or Psychology required. Relevant professional registration to practice in Alberta required. Previous experience in adult mental health services with a focus on bereavement. Strong knowledge of the biological, psychological, and social aspects of pregnancy and pregnancy loss. Strong ability to conduct a succinct mental health assessment and case noting. Demonstrated ability to function as a mental health consultant. Ability to work autonomously and in collaboration with mental health, nursing, and other professions. Excellent written and verbal communications skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in Women's Health grief counselling and trauma background. Experience with program planning and facilitation. Strong sense of community engagement. Certification in ART, EMDR, CBT and or solution focused therapy preferred.
