Job Description

Job Purpose



Identifies client problems, needs and risks. Develops and implements short term, issue specific intervention plans within program guideline. Provides skill building either individually or in groups in problem areas. Recruits and selects participants for group-based skill building sessions. Promotes and delivers established programing by conducting group sessions.

Duties and Responsibilities



Gathers information relevant to the clients' problems, needs and risks by interviewing, observing behaviour, meeting with caregivers and service providers and using a variety of inventories, checklists and questionnaires. Reviews the information gathered to identify problems, needs and risks. Develop and implements short term issue specific individualized service plans within program guidelines in consultation with the supervisor, to meet clients' goals and objectives. Offer guidance to support personal growth, skill development, learning and cultivating coping strategies in areas such as parenting skills, anger management or self-management techniques. Evaluates the effectiveness of the intervention plan, reports on clients' progress and discusses concerns with the supervisor to resolve identified problems and move towards defined objectives. Liaises with and / or promotes the interest of clients with other community service provider and professionals. Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as required. Outlines services provided by the program and / or organization. Provides information on and referrals to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required. Plans, prepares and facilitates educational and skill building parenting groups and workshops including but not limited to CONNECT parenting program, groups/workshops for caregivers and children/adolescents using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, basic psycho-educational group methods to resolve the identified problems, needs and risks. Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the supervisor as required.

Qualifications



Education:

2-year diploma in related human/social service field One-year recent related experience

Skills and abilities:

Ability to lead individual and family sessions, and facilitate groups Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills Knowledge of community resources Ability to work independently and with team Knowledge of conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques Intermediate computer skills Excellent organizational and record keeping skills Demonstrated experience facilitating group discussions, workshops, or psychoeducational sessions in community or clinical settings Proven ability to engage diverse audiences using clear, confident, and adaptable public speaking skills Skilled at guiding group processes while managing group dynamics and promoting participant inclusion Comfortable leading both in-person and virtual sessions using a variety of presentation and facilitation tools Able to deliver structured content while encouraging meaningful dialogue and interaction among participants

Conditions of Employment



Able to obtain and maintain a Current Criminal Record Check Able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Drivers License and have a reliable vehicle to use for work related travel with appropriate insurance coverage

Working Conditions



Flexible work schedule, some evenings and weekends The work environment is often stressful and entails dealing with individuals in crisis situations Some travel to other communities may be required
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $27.54-$31.61 per hour
