We are seeking Family and Youth Gang Interventionists (as identified within the Building Safer Communities Fund contract) to provide targeted interventions to students in SD35 Langley Schools, Langley Township and City of Langley. As a FYGI, you will be working an integral part of the Project Black Feather Team and be responsible for creating and implementing therapeutic plans that align with Project Resiliency and Project Black Feather's goals and methods of practice. The Project Black Feather FYGI will provide specialized expert intervention services to students and their families while ensuring inclusive and neurodiverse learning re-engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Will conduct basic needs assessments and vulnerability exploitation risk assessments. Will analyze and strategically plan with identified youth and families around violence, abuse, and trauma. Develop individualized interventions in collaboration with Intervention Clinicians, program Administration and community services/agencies. Implement therapeutic interventions to support students' mental health and well-being. Will develop and implement therapeutic programming and planned environments to utilize daily life events to facilitate change and interventions. Work collaboratively with community partners, school staff and families to provide services and transitions between services. Provide consultation to School Based Teams, District Based Teams, and Integrated Case Management Teams. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students' engagement and interventions. Ensure that all services are provided in accordance with current legal, ethical, and professional standards. Provide acute crisis response and risk management, including liaison with emergency hospital admissions. Work with Project Black Feather Administration/clinical supervisor to identify emerging student related needs and community trends. Actively contribute and participate in professional development and training related to Project Black Feather program and related community training. Will provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of youth intervention programming. Proven application of trauma focused best practices and the systemic impact of intergenerational trauma, including Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's). The application of theory and research about human growth and development to promote the optimal physical, psycho-social, spiritual, cognitive, and emotional development of young people towards a healthy and productive adulthood, and a focus on strengths and assets rather than pathology. The ability to use critical thinking skills to evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem solve and make decisions effectively. Will be available to support families and students from 9:00am to 8:00pm every weekday, some weekends and year round.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Related post-secondary degree in preventing, assessing and treating violence, abuse and trauma. Minimum 5 years' experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and families, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Significant experience and knowledge cultivating and nurturing connections with diverse and complex youth and families currently in crisis. Completion of the 'Connect Parents & Caregivers' course. Advanced knowledge of research and applied programming, normative development and youth psychopathology in relation to youth mental health, substance misuse/addiction and concurrent disorders. Demonstrated expertise and strong working knowledge of attachment theory, social and cognitive development, and intergenerational trauma. Advanced conflict resolution and crisis management and restorative practices. The ability to function independently and demonstrate sound ethical and therapeutic judgement. Demonstrated knowledge of community services and experience working collaboratively in the application of youth services. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrated strong organizational skills, including ability to establish therapeutic priorities, manage time and resources, and promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary teams and agencies. Working knowledge of computers, including FOIPPA compliant recording and reporting. Valid drivers license class Use of personal vehicle required (with mileage and insurance compensation) Valid First Aid Level 1 Able and willingness to perform physically active duties that are required to engage students.

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 8:30am - 4:00pm Wednesday and Friday 12:30pm - 8:00pm. This is a 12-month position.
