Respite workers provide care in the family residence or community. This includes: attending day camps, planning fun outings, and assisting with adaptive skills at home.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age
A clear vulnerable sector criminal record check
Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
A minimum of 1 year experience in working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with special needs
Education in psychology, special education, or a related field AND/OR a college diploma in ABA, special education, or a related field is considered an asset
Knowledge of:
Personal care and domestic skills
Autism and developmental disabilities
Interpersonal skills needed to manage crisis situations
English grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Job Duties:
Provide respite care for children with exceptionalities within their home and community
Plan and execute activities that are enjoyable to the client
Assist with personal care of clients as needed (feeding, toileting, etc.)
Maintain a clear understanding of the rules of the home
Follow Connections Behaviour Consulting policies and procedures
Attend staff meetings as required
Collect descriptive data of challenging behaviours
Maintain respect and confidentiality for all clients
Maintain and protect the well-being of all clients while providing care and when emergency crisis situations arise
Accurately maintain written records and notes
Work a schedule which may incorporate providing services to multiple families
Communicate professionally with customers, guardians, parents and supervisors
Effectively and promptly communicate with supervisor in the event of an unusual occurrence or crisis situation within 24 hours of the event
Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
