for ongoing instruction at our campus on Annacis Island in Delta to deliver training in our Marine day school foundation or apprenticeship programs. This position includes instructional responsibilities such as: teaching provincial curriculum; short-term coverage for full-time Instructor release; preparing and presenting classroom lectures, course delivery and assessment materials; providing practical demonstrations; and working collaboratively within our heavy equipment team and with the Department Heads. The ideal candidate will be able to bring industry experience into the classroom, develop course and program curriculum, deal with relevant operational and educational issues, and cultivate positive relationships with students. Candidates should be experienced working with, in/out board engines, diesel engines, different drive systems (out board lower, stern drives, jets), black/grey water systems, fresh water systems, fiber glassing, electrical, hydraulics, trailers, trailer brake systems, and shipyard safety.

Classroom instruction to entry-level, apprentice, upgrader, PTS or Industry Services students
Shop and laboratory instruction and supervision
Instructional counseling, evaluation and preparation
Administrative responsibilities, including assignments, examination marking, and student evaluation
Curriculum development, maintenance and program enhancement
Administrative processes required to ensure appropriate resources are in place to deliver training
Other duties directly related to the instruction of trades and vocational programs
Input into development of modifications to workshop and instructional areas
Preparing and presenting online teaching, classroom lectures, classroom management; practical demonstrations, and working collectively/collaboratively with the Heavy Equipment Groups Department Heads
Student supervision on industry field trips
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
:
BC Certificate of Qualification in Diesel Engine Technician
BC Certificate of Qualification in Marine Mechanical Technician
Certified by Transport Canada or have current exemption by Transport Canada to instruct select Marine Engineering courses or be eligible for Transport Canada exemption
Marine manufacturer specific training courses (Dealer courses) relative to MMT curriculum
A minimum of five years' recent experience in commercial marine industry and or pleasure marine industry (more preferred)
Documented experience in repair and maintenance of electric power generation
Documented experience working on Inboard/Outboard engines
Documented experience working with marine aux equipment (Oil separators, desalination, water systems, IPS drives, purifiers
Demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Current computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint: ability to manage files located on a database
Service Management experience would be an asset
Previous supervisory or leadership experience would be an asset
Documented experience working as an Instructor in a post-secondary or industrial setting within a team environment is an asset
