Position Description

The Ingram School of Nursing of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University, is seeking applications for a full-time position as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Faculty Lecturer (Professional). This is a 3-year contract with a possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will be joining the school at a stimulating time of growth and energy with a recently enlarged number of education and research-focused faculty, major curricular revisions, and a new physical space with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities. The school is affiliated with internationally known McGill University, which is located in Montreal, a vibrant, multicultural city, in the francophone province of Quebec.

Job Duties

Under the direction of the Director of the Satoko Shibata Clinical Nursing Laboratory at the ISON:

  • Focus on teaching and developing digital and virtual health educational initiatives within the Satoko Shibata Clinical Nursing Laboratory.
  • Ensures that the clinical skills and health and physical assessment curricula of the ISON programs are implemented using best practices.
  • Tracks the introduction, reinforcement, and consolidation of clinical technical skills and physical assessment across programs.
  • Develops and implements inclusive teaching sessions for course specific skills with a focus on digital health.
  • Orients a diverse body of nursing students to the Satoko Shibata Clinical Nursing Laboratory setting and through an online environment.
  • Provides direct teaching, supervision, and evaluation of skills including use of low to high technology simulation in lab courses, both in-person and through online platforms as well as courses offered by Continuing Nursing Education Office.
  • Assists in free-lab time and remedial labs, both in-person and through online platforms.
  • Works collaboratively with other faculty members in the development and implementation of curricula.
  • Liaises with local clinical educational agencies to ensure that nursing students are learning relevant skills needed within their clinical placements.
  • Assists in the development of teaching materials including web-based learning modules.
  • Occasionally support clinical courses taught at the Ingram School of Nursing.
  • The successful incumbent will also be expected to contribute to service activities within the School, the University and the wider scholarly community.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum requirements for consideration are:
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree completed or in progress preferred, to be completed before the end of the 3-year contract.
  • OIIQ license.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Digital/Virtual health or Telehealth experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of full-time clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated abilities with a broad range of clinical technical skills and Health and Physical Assessments.
  • Experience with simulation and debriefing an asset.
  • Experience in nursing education and clinical supervision of a diverse student body.
  • A demonstrated commitment to \xe2\x80\x93 and in accordance with circumstances, a track record in \xe2\x80\x93 equity, diversity, and inclusiveness (EDI).
  • Valid CPR certification \xe2\x80\x93 BLS provider courses
