Faculty Position: Kinesiology


Tenure Track Assistant Professor (Full Time)


POSITION SUMMARY





The department of Kinesiology at The King's University invites applications for a full-time, tenure


track appointment in Kinesiology, beginning August 1st, 2026. The King's University is launching a


new four-year Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) program and will be accepting first-year Kinesiology


students in Fall 2026/27. The Kinesiology program will be housed in the new Centre for Excellence in


the Sciences building, which is currently under construction and will include purpose-built


Kinesiology teaching and research laboratories.


SPECIFICATIONS





The ideal candidates will bring with them a dedication to excellence in teaching, with an ability to


teach a variety of courses in Kinesiology including Psychology of Sport and Exercise, Socio-Cultural


Aspects of Sport, Motor Control Learning, Growth and Development, and Physical Activity for Health


Promotion. Ideal candidates will be excited to help us launch the BKin program by developing new


courses to support the program. The successful candidate will have an innovative and active


program of scholarship with the ability to incorporate senior undergraduate students into their


research projects.




Responsibilities include:


Teaching of 6 courses or equivalent per year in undergraduate programming Engagement in an on-going scholarly research program Engagement in on-going service to the Kinesiology department, the Faculty of Natural
Science, the greater University community, and external stakeholders


Creating connections and developing relationships with students through advising, research supervision, and mentoring


Building connections with other Kinesiology departments in the province. The successful candidate will demonstrate a growing and evolving ability to articulate the


connection between Kinesiology and the Christian faith. This work will contribute, directly or


indirectly, to the renewal and reconciliation of all things, as expressed in the mission of The King's


University. Together with the members of the Faculty of Natural Science, and all at King's, we seek


to build a more humane, just, and sustainable world through our academic work.







The successful candidate is required to hold a Ph.D. in Kinesiology with a specialization in the


psychological and/or sociological aspects of exercise and sport, or closely related field. Candidates


who are close to Ph.D. completion may be considered; however, the appointment will be contingent


upon the completion of the Ph.D. by an agreed-upon date.


The King's University is a Christian liberal arts university offering a four-year Bachelor of Kinesiology


degree, a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Commerce, a Bachelor of Music, a Bachelor of Science, and


a two-year after-degree Bachelor of Education (Elementary and Secondary) accredited by the


province of Alberta. The University is a member of Universities Canada and of the Council for


Christian Colleges and Universities. Faculty members at The King's University are eligible for and are


currently receiving Tri-Council funding. The faculty at The King's University are recognized for


involving undergraduate students in their scholarship, with faculty members having obtained


external funding.

The King's University follows a standardized salary grid. The salary range for an Assistant Professor position is


$73,496 - $92,372/yr, and $86,789 - $109,081 for an Associate professor position. A comprehensive benefit


package, pension, and generous vacation and time off are provided.
