Position Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Buildings and Operations, and working closely with the Associate Dean (Academic), the Faculty Business Analyst plays a significant role in evaluating and improving the IT capabilities and processes for the Faculty of Arts. The Faculty Business Analyst contributes to the support of faculty-specific IT systems to ensure that they meet the current and future needs of the user community. The Faculty Business Analyst partners with Central IT Services and the Office of the Associate Provost, Academic Programs and Teaching to ensure IT services are being leveraged optimally within the faculty.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate in developing a vision of the Faculty's IT needs that addresses the requirements of diverse stakeholders and the evolution of technological solutions, in collaboration with Central IT Services and the Office of the Associate Provost, Academic Programs and Teaching.
• Elicit, analyze, validate, and document IT needs as they pertain to the specific academic, teaching, organizational and/or operational requirements of the Faculty of Arts.
• Survey the Faculty's user-community to establish IT priorities and measure satisfaction with its Information Technology solutions.
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement processes required to respond to academic, administrative and students' IT demands.
• Work with other IT Professionals and Business Subject Matter Experts in validating and recommending IT solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned with IT orientations.
• Prioritize the adoption of existing platforms wherever possible over introducing new solutions with overlapping functionality.
• Transform business requirements and conceptual system designs into detailed functional specifications in accordance with design standards.
• Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding and distinguish user requests from the true underlying needs.
• Assist the stakeholders with the development of business cases.
• Support the rollout, promotion, and adoption of IT solutions within the Faculty of Arts by leveraging effective change management practices.
• With the support of Central IT Services, promote cybersecurity, data protection, and safe computing practices across the entire Faculty of Arts community.
• Ensure faculty compliance with IT directives, policies, and governance.
• Support Business Subject Matter Experts and users during user acceptance testing.
• Assist in the development of application documentation, user documentation and training materials.
• Managing the student computer Lab, including the student staff, and overseeing other computer Labs that are part of the Faculty.
• Act as the IT asset steward for the faculty and work closely with Central IT Services to establish procedures for improving the quality of the Faculty's hardware and software inventory.
• Manage software licenses for applications purchased by the faculty.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and their potential benefits to the Faculty community.
• Act as a key resource in raising, validating, and communicating incidents / problems and act as a liaison between Business Subject Matter Experts, technical teams and/or third-party vendors as required.
• Provide estimates for tasks and artifacts under own responsibility.
• Directly supervise one staff member

• Demonstrated knowledge of functional analysis and data analysis.
• Ability to understand and clarify business needs formulated by requesters and stakeholders.
• Experience in working with third-party software and third-party suppliers.

• English, spoken and written. French spoken and read.
