Role:
This is a 1-year contract position
for a TSSA 3rd class/Class B Refrigeration Operator. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting maintenance colleagues with general maintenance and repair of the facility, automatic retrieval systems, dock equipment, minor repair of electrical devices, and light plumbing. The position includes basic refrigeration system inspections and maintenance. The shift type is a 4 on 4 off continental.
Role Responsibilities:
Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to all work safety policies, procedures and governing requirements
Knowledge of controls and electric (high and low voltage) with working knowledge of general industry electrical safety standards
Working knowledge of NFPA 80 National Fire Code
Understanding of electrical meter testing
Working knowledge of electrical Arc Flash requirements
Refrigeration Class B or A operator license or Third-class stationary engineering license
Completes all special projects connected with building or grounds, as requested. Includes but not limited to:
Moving furniture or fixtures;
Changing lights;
Completing basic maintenance and repair needs to insure timely completion of all maintenance needs.
Perform general building maintenance which Includes but not limited to:
Light carpentry
Painting
Light plumbing
Maintain facility assets through scheduled preventative maintenance and repair activities which Includes but not limited to:
Product racking inspections
Dock equipment (IE: Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pit or vertical dock levelers; manual or electric dock doors; manual, electric, or hydraulic truck restraints; dock seals or shelters), inspections and repairs
HVAC system inspection maintenance
Responsible for logging time and materials into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) daily in the form of work orders, P.M.s, etc.
Responsible for daily refrigeration operator duties including eRSM (refrigeration safety management) program inspections and logs
Maintain all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order
Adhere to all safety requirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment required by the job
Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety
Comply with Workplace Health and Safety, and other local, provincial and federal regulations
Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire, grooming and attendance
Interact effectively, build relationships, and demonstrate a high level of cooperation.
Complies with Sysco's Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their supervisor.
Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Class A or B Refrigeration Operators certificate or third-class stationary engineering certificate.
Minimum 2 years (preferred 4 year) of relevant experience in facility maintenance or equipment trade education (preferred)
Mechanically inclined
Minimum of 2 years (preferred 4 year) working with Freon and/or C02 trans critical / Ammonia refrigeration systems
Moderate knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, mechanical
High School diploma or general education degree (GED);
The colleague works non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call
Valid driver's license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required
