The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada is one of the country's top heritage institutions, located in a new purpose-built facility at the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. As both a museum and a modern event venue, it offers a unique blend of history and innovation, featuring exhibits and displays that celebrate Canada's aviation legacy. The museum's facilities include multiple meeting rooms, the elegant Founders Observation Lounge overlooking the runways, and spacious galleries adaptable for corporate events, receptions, weddings, and community gatherings. As a non-profit organization, our event hosting plays a vital role in supporting the museum's mission of education, preservation, and community engagement.

Position Overview



The Facility Rental Manager's key responsibility is to develop relationships within Manitoba's public and private sectors and promote RAMWC as an event venue of superb quality. Through the promotion, planning and delivery of services, the Facility Rental Manager will ensure the client's expectations are exceeded and future bookings are secured. They will act as the main point of contact for clients and vendors, handle on-site management, and conduct post-event evaluations.

Core Responsibilities



Event planning and execution:

Liaise with the RAMWC team and external clients to conceptualize plans for events held in a variety of spaces within the museum.

Budget and financial management:

Develop and manage event budgets, monitor expenses, and handle invoicing or financial reporting.

Vendor and client relations:

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal staff. Liaise and negotiate contracts with vendors like caterers, decorators, and A/V providers as needed.

Logistics and operations:

Oversee all logistical details, including venue setup, staffing, and audiovisual equipment. Ensure all event spaces are properly maintained, clean, and equipped.

On-site management:

Supervise event staff, ensure adherence to schedules, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the event.

Health and Safety:

Oversee cleanliness and sanitization of the rental spaces, ensuring guidelines and regulations are met.

Post-event analysis:

Conduct post-event evaluations, gather feedback from clients and staff, and generate reports on event performance.

Required skills and qualifications



Minimum of 5 years experience in an event management role. Education in Hospitality and Tourism or Event Management is preferred. Demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience negotiating contracts to meet the needs of both clients and the facility. Strong collaboration skills within a team environment. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work under pressure and solve problems creatively. Experience using CRM or Salesforce software and budgeting tools. Experience with event marketing and promotion. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
