POSITION OVERVIEW

Accountable for the efficient operation of SaskTel buildings and to protect the Corporation\'s multi-million dollar investment, providing the environment essential to both the occupants of the buildings and the operation of revenue generating telecommunication equipment. Ensure the operation & maintenance of buildings and properties, and provide support for all project requirements. Provide a high level of customer satisfaction. Meet all legal requirements by complying with all national, provincial and municipal codes & regulations.

Note: This is an on-call position 7/24/365 to ensure the integrity of the network and environmental control.

LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES
People
1. Leads, directs and manages staff to ensure the effective use of HR resources. Maximizes performance by selecting (hire external or promote from within), developing, mentoring and sustaining a high level of expertise among staff. Organize and direct work including prioritizing assignments, establishing objectives, providing regular performance feedback, conducting year end performance appraisals and taking necessary corrective action as may be required. Assists in staff career planning, establishes development and succession plans and ensures relevant HR procedures and policies are followed (provisions of the collective agreement, performance appraisals, discipline, grievance, etc). Accountable for provisioning and managing contracted resources as may be required.
2. Accountable for promoting a productive and positive environment for staff that encourages innovation, teamwork, initiative and models corporate values. Motivates staff by assigning challenging work, planning and managing internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, plans and activities.
3. Ensures all safety, health, environmental and code of conduct policies, programs and standards are understood and complied with at all times.
4. Proactively identify and action opportunities to increase customer satisfaction (internal and external customers).
Financial
1. Ensure sound financial control within area of responsibility by developing annual operating and capital budgets, monitoring performance to budget and taking action as appropriate. Develops, negotiates and implements contracts for acquisition of goods & services related to area of responsibility.
Innovation
1. Accountable to research, develop, define and implement innovative long and short term plans, policies and objectives. Provides expertise to senior management providing education, studies and consulting on opportunities that will impact business strategy. Ensures alignment and integration with the corporate strategic plan and develops plan and operational metrics, including approaches for demonstrating business value.
2. Accountable to proactively identify and action opportunities to improve revenue and growth initiatives, decrease costs, increase customer service levels and increase employee engagement.
3. Accountable to develop opportunities to spark innovation in technology or product service delivery or process improvements.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Support SaskTel\'s Values by striving for the highest degree of Excellence in the provision of all services. Demonstrate all leadership accountabilities that promote our people, develop innovations using advanced technologies, and manage all financial resources to control and reduce overall budget requirements.
2. Ensure the operation and maintenance of all buildings and properties meet legal requirements and compliance with all National, Provincial, Federal and Municipal laws, acts, codes and regulations and Corporate standards and practices (i.e. Electrical Code, National Fire Code, The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Regulations, National Building Code, National Plumbing Code, Human Resources Skills Development Canada (HRSDC) Canada Labor Code, etc.). Evaluate and implement opportunities to upgrade corporate standards and practices, and consult with regulatory agencies as required.
3. Develop, support and manage safe work practice initiatives through SaskTel\'s Safety and Environmental departments. Requires compliance with all Acts, Codes and Regulations (i.e. Environmental Protection Act, Ozone Depleting Substance Act, Pest Control Act, Environmental Spill Control Regulations, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations, CityBylaws, HRSDC, etc.).
4. Operates and maintains SaskTel\'s buildings and properties to ensure critical environments for equipment and personnel, including the public. Responsible for effective operation of building security, air quality, building environment and housekeeping to protect the life, safety, health and comfort of occupants.
5. Ensure SaskTel\'s investment in its buildings and properties are protected, and that all Risk Management audits are complied with.
6. Responsible for multimillion dollar operating and capital expenses, by developing budgets, tracking activity and taking appropriate action as necessary to reach those objectives.
7. Provide project management leadership, and direction for the successful implementation and completion of all projects for the Buildings, Design and Construction group, and Mechanical/Electrical design groups. Competent at identifying and prioritizing projects in terms of timeliness, cost, risk and scope of work.
8. Responsible for efficient and effective management of contractors and contracts pertaining to building maintenance and housekeeping including: development of local contractor sourcing and specification writing, tendering, purchasing, networking and quality control.
9. Pursue technologies that advance SaskTel\'s corporate initiatives, including but not limited to the following, Environment, Safety, remote access technologies for all sites, and reducing any risk for network equipment.
10. Accountable for the development of an effective staff by providing direction, coaching, and leadership.
11. Accountable to respond and manage all building assets in the event of any emergency (Pandemic, Natural Disasters, Building System Failures, Civil Unrest). This includes developing and maintaining all Business Continuity Plans.
12. Support Network Operations, on call 7/24/365 to ensure the integrity of the building and systems by providing proper environmental conditions (heating/cooling/controls).

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Technologist with diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Related Property Management experience, and/or min. 2 years equivalent experience.
2. Must possess a strong knowledge of buildings structure, design and operation.
3. The ability to supervise and develop staff using strong leadership skills.
4. Strong Project Management skills to manage contractors and staff. Maintain maintenance objectives and provide support to our customers.
5. Ability to Multi-task combined with strong computer skills to support Corporate systems (SAP, BID, Metasys Environment Systems, Elevator Control Systems, Ilon/Distech controls, Bentley View/Cad, Alarm Panels (Securtec, Vesda).
6. Must demonstrate strong customer service orientation.
7. Working knowledge of contracts and contract administration.
8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
9. Must be able to travel extensively.
