Facility Maintenance/Custodian - Regina

Duties:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Person will be responsible for general building maintenance, including carpentry, minor plumbing, and repairs as needed. They will conduct daily cleaning duties to ensure a high standard of cleanliness in both public and private areas, as well as maintain the grounds, including snow removal, grass cutting, and sweeping as required. The role involves regularly monitoring and inspecting mechanical and internal systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems to ensure they are operating efficiently, addressing any issues promptly. The Maintenance Person will assist in identifying maintenance issues, assessing their urgency. All tasks must be performed in compliance with safety protocols and building policies. Additionally, they will collaborate with external contractors, build and maintain positive relationships with contractors and service providers, and coordinate and supervise contracted work to meet required standards. They will review completed work for quality, ensuring it meets expectations and contractual agreements before final approval and payment.
Qualifications:
Grade twelve (12) or GED equivalent, with experience in general building maintenance on a commercial or multi-unit building. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years of experience and formal training in a relevant construction trade, with a journeyperson certificate being an asset. WHMIS training and first aid/CPR certification are also considered assets. The candidate must be able to work effectively with other custodian staff, be familiar with building emergency procedures and emergency monitoring devices, and have a working knowledge of all applicable Municipal, Provincial, and Federal bylaws for the safe and legal operation of the building and its systems. A valid class 5 driver's license is required. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to prioritize tasks. They should also be able to manage external contractors and ensure quality and efficiency, be physically capable of performing duties in varying conditions, and be committed to maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of the building.
Hours of Work: Full time 7 hours/day Split Shift (7:00am-11:00am/3:30pm-6:30pm)
Term: June 23, 2025 - June 22, 2026 (Possibility of renewal)
Remuneration: GDI Custodian 2 wage grid
