Position Summary: Under the general direction of the Manager of Recreation and Community Services, the Facility Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Lorette Community Centre, including associated facilities such as the Soccer Fields, Baseball Diamond, Splash Park, Curling Rink, Playground, and Open Spaces.
This role includes the development and implementation of a service plan to ensure the facilities are clean, safe, and operational, which encompasses janitorial services, minor mechanical and electrical maintenance, and coordination with contractors across various RM-owned and operated properties. The Facility Supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for both facility users and contractors.

Desired Qualifications and Experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, accounting software, and CMMS.
• Mechanical skills with the ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on all facility equipment.

• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Familiarity with Workplace Safety and Health, WHMIS, and MSDS standards.
• Knowledge of materials, practices, tools, and equipment used in building and field maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of preventative maintenance for recreation facilities and ice-making processes.
• Ability to read and understand WHMIS labels and Material Safety Data Sheets. (MSDS)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to document work activities and prepare monthly reports for management.
• Willingness to adapt to new technological changes and participate in self-development programs.
• Physical ability to perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, and other physical activities.
Education and Experience:
• Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
• Refrigeration Class Power Engineer Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Class 5 driver's license (Province of Manitoba).
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• IFMA Facility Management Professional designation is an asset.
• Minimum of one year working in a Parks and Recreation environment.
• At least two years of experience operating and maintaining a Refrigeration Plant.
• Minimum of two years of experience installing and maintaining hockey ice and related equipment.
• At least two years of management or assistant management experience.
General Responsibilities
• Conduct regular maintenance of the Lorette Community Centre, including the Arena, Curling Club, Splash Park, Soccer Fields, and Baseball Diamond, with tasks such as general repairs, painting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall work, cleaning, and general upkeep.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment used for facility and grounds maintenance, including ice re-surfacers, tractors, mowers, utility vehicles, pickups, ice edgers, sweepers, scrubbers, hand tools, and power tools.
• Monitor and operate the refrigeration plant in compliance with the Manitoba Power Engineers Act and Regulations, including ice maintenance tasks such as installation, removal, painting, flooding, shaving, and inspections.
• Operate and maintain the Splash Park according to the Public Health Act and other relevant regulations, including water testing, administering chemicals, maintaining mechanical filtration equipment, and performing general repairs.
• Regularly inspect and maintain sports fields and playgrounds, including grass cutting, fence repairs, diamond grooming, and general upkeep.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety and health regulations, reporting deficiencies or concerns, and recommending capital upgrades as necessary.
• Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage for bookings, maintenance, projects, and operations.
• Coach and train junior staff in best practices for ice installation, splash park operations, and facility maintenance.
• Respond to inquiries from the public, staff, and elected officials, and work to resolve complex issues while ensuring that facility operation standards are met.
• Assisting the Manager of Recreation and Community Services in coordinating capital budgets, supporting capital projects, and assisting with procurement processes.
• Ensure all safety protocols are followed and liaise with external agencies to maintain compliance with health and safety standards.
• Manage advertising opportunities, including posting ads on the electronic outdoor billboard.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, invoice customers, and oversee the collection of payments.
• Develop annual operating and capital budgets for approval by the RM of Tache Council.
• Promote the facility to the public and maintain effective communication with government agencies, community organizations, and the RM of Tache Council for financial support.
• Ensure regular inspections are completed as required, and that staff training (e.g., CPR, First Aid, WHMIS) is up to date.
• Oversee procurement of supplies in line with the facility's budget.

Work Conditions:
• Work is carried out indoors and outdoors, including handling equipment, lifting, and performing various physical tasks.
• Frequent use of hands, arms, and shoulders to operate equipment.
• Work involves physical activities such as climbing, bending, shoveling, and lifting.
• Tasks require fine motor skills and heavy manual work.
• Handling hazardous materials and equipment operation is required.
• Exposure to adverse conditions such as noise, temperatures, and odors.

• Responsibilities involve providing exceptional customer service and multi-tasking dealing with multiple requests simultaneously.
• The Facility Supervisor works both independently and within a team environment.
• The role involves self-motivation, quality-driven work, and collaborative efforts with other employees.
• Work must comply with the Manitoba Health and Safety Act and RM of Tache Health and Safety policies.
• The Successful candidates must undergo a child abuse registry and vulnerable sector background check.
