Education

: Completion of high school is required.

Knowledge and Skills:

Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Previous experience with a variety of carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, and other building maintenance work is required. Must be able to use a variety of power and hand tools such as drills, hammers, saws, pliers. A valid driver's license is required and commercially insurable.

Communication Skills:

Strong oral and written communication skills are required for normal business communication.

Nature and Length of Experience

:

At least 2 years' experience in a facilities maintenance position.

Responsibilities

Performs various external ground-keeping duties at multiple properties such as exterior building and parking lot maintenance, landscaping, lawn care, sprinkler system service, garbage pickup, snow removal, installation and maintenance of directional signage. Determines need for and performs minor repairs and installations including plumbing, light fixture replacement, painting, installation and repair of ceramic tiles, replacement of ceiling tiles and carpeting, dry-walling, minor carpentry, painting, door repairs. Coordinates contractors/vendors when professional repairs are necessary. Ensures contractors arrive as per scheduled timelines and complete their work as per the conditions of contract. Maintains tools and equipment (e.g. hand tools, power tools, lawnmowers, etc.), ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating condition.
