Position Summary

The facility maintainer is responsible for the preservation and sanitation of the facility. This includes working on small maintenance and sanitation tasks, checking doors and access points, and making sure the building is locked down and ready to be secured by the alarm.

Job Duties

Keeping an eye on the building and systems, making sure that everything is running smoothly, correct or report any issues. (Leaks, trouble lights, etc.) Clearing snow or ice, when necessary, around entrances. Salting entrance areas. Let snow / yard contractor into fenced areas. Performing minor maintenance tasks such as painting, sanding drywall, applying putty, or clearing debris. Mop and sweep entrances ensuring that everything is clean and there are no hazards. Conduct scheduled safety and security walk throughs of the facility and record findings. Perform restorative actions after any power outages following written procedures (starting equipment which does not start automatically and confirming other equipment did restart properly.) Record/report malfunctions to the appropriate people. Do a walk through at the end of the shift to make sure that all doors are properly secure, and the alarm is ready to be armed. Prior to leaving, check the alarm system to ensure there are no faults to ensure the alarm can be armed. Investigate open doors, loose materials setting off motion sensors, etc. Perform sanitation duties that include emptying garbage, wiping down surfaces, sweep & mop floors, make sure that lunchroom is clean. Restock dispensers with sanitation products and PPE, change batteries, etc. May include a deeper cleaning of specific rooms when they are empty on the weekends. Do laundry, hang, and put away scrubs and lab coats in accordance with SOPs. Put away deliveries of sanitation supplies, PPE, etc. Move items around the facility as directed (carry, cart or pallet jack as needed). Other specific tasks assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

Able to pass a simple computer literacy test. Experience with sanitation and working in industrial setting an asset. * Able to use a smartphone to access applications.
