POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY



The Facility Host is a public face of the Canadian Memorial community, acting on behalf and reporting to the Operations Administrator. The Host's work involves greeting the public, assisting renters using CMUC buildings, performing office tasks, and helping to maintain our buildings by doing room set ups, tear downs, and light cleaning.

As a multi-faceted, part-time position, it requires someone with a welcoming attitude, flexibility and who enjoys working on their own.

HOURS



As needed - expected hours include evening and weekends and may vary week to week, depending on the Centre for Peace and Sanctuary renting schedule. All shifts will be scheduled and agreed with the employee in advance.

The job will be performed at the Canadian Memorial United Church and Centre for Peace.

HOURLY RATE



$20 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES



Facilities

Set up and take down the Sanctuary and rooms in the Centre for Peace as needed for classes and meetings: move/stack chairs, set up/collapse/stack tables, set up/dismantle choir risers in the Sanctuary, and other equipment. Coordinate AV setups for events; e.g., microphone, projector, screens, music, etc. Greet people entering the Centre for Peace; deal comfortably with a diverse community that includes congregants, members of staff, the Board, renters, and the general public. Light cleaning of the Sanctuary and the Centre for Peace ensuring buildings are attractive and well-maintained: Sweeping the floors Dusting surfaces and counters Cleaning and maintaining facility washrooms Cleaning the kitchen, operating the dishwasher and laundry machine Gathering and emptying trash and recyclables Sanitizing surfaces, handles, furniture and doors according to COVID-19 Health & Safety Plan. Alert your supervisor of any safety, maintenance, repair or cleaning concerns. Follow protocols to unlock and lock windows and doors, set building alarms, and maintain the security of CMUC's buildings and grounds.
Office while on site:

Respond to enquiries in person and by phone; retrieve and pass along information on rental costs, policies, programs and such. Assist renters using CMUC facilities with their rental and event needs. Perform basic computer operations in a modern Windows environment: Light word processing, such as preparing signs or creating/editing simple documents Finding and retrieving electronic files from the office server Inputting data as required Looking up and entering booking reservations in a booking software program. Assist the Administrator and other staff with various tasks such as photocopying and ad hoc tasks.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE



Secondary school diploma or equivalent Experience in a customer service position an asset Basic MS Office Suite and Internet browsing skills and willingness to learn new software Experience with maintenance and cleaning duties Experience in an office setting, an asset Criminal Record Check to be paid by CMUC
