The NL Sports Centre (NLSC) is a category 3 Government of NL Crown Corporation. Since opening in 2008, The NLSC has been the primary facility for sport development and competition for many of the provinces' Provincial Sports Organizations. The three primary lines of business for the NLSC are as follows:
Operation of the Sports Centre Facilities: The NLSC operates seven days per week and, as such, the daily operations require a great deal of time and focus. This includes maintaining focus on strategic direction, management of human resource issues, maintenance of the centre, managing bookings, procuring required supplies, equipment and the management of information technology needs, among others.
Athlete Development and Training: The NLSC complex enables athletes and teams to access high quality training space and to help achieve a higher level of athletic success.
Sport Event Hosting: The NLSC complex serves as a venue to host provincial, national and international competitions for Newfoundland and Labrador.
The NLSC embarking on an exciting period of rapid growth as we have added a second facility to our portfolio in 2025, the Fortis Canada Games Complex and will be adding the Sport and Wellbeing Dome in 2026.
The Operations Manager of the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Centre is presently accepting applications for the position of: Facility Attendant - Part Time (Permanent). Facility Attendants are responsible for the day-to-day operation and janitorial duties of the multi-use recreational facilities, the preparation for sporting rentals and customer service.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Facility Attendant is responsible for ensuring the facility is securely opened and closed at scheduled times, including activating the alarm system. They perform a range of janitorial duties such as cleaning change rooms, showers, bathrooms, and public areas, and maintain the facility grounds by removing litter. Some shifts may include lifting and moving equipment or furniture for program set-up as required. The role involves providing courteous and efficient customer service, offering information about the facilities, and use of strong interpersonal skills to promote orderly patron conduct. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. WHIMIS and Basic First Aid/CPR/AED training would be an asset. In addition, applicants will be expected to: work independently; follow written and verbal instructions accurately and promptly; deal with people in a tactful and diplomatic manner; have the physical fitness to perform the above duties; and possess a valid "Class 5" driver's license.

This position will require evening and weekend work.
Starting salary for this position is $20.86 per hour.
The position will primarily work independently, or with another casual staff person
