Position Summary/Schedule
LCS is looking for a Facilities Technician (painter) who is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance and upkeep of School facilities and grounds. This position requires expertise in painting commercial and residential buildings, drywall installation and repair, along with a broad skill set in carpentry and general maintenance. This role requires flexibility for additional work as required, on-call and weekend work. The incumbent of this role must be able to support the facilities team during peak periods including during the Schools winter, march and summer breaks.
Responsibilities:
Utilize third-party maintenance management software for all maintenance requests
Respond promptly to requests based on priority and urgency
Perform professional painting of commercial and residential buildings including classrooms, residences, offices and common areas
Execute drywall repairs including patching, taping, mudding, sanding and finishing
Perform finished carpentry including installation and repair of trim, moulding, doors and cabinetry
Complete tile work for bathrooms, kitchens and other areas as needed
Follow all safety protocols and procedures
Participate in team meetings and training sessions
Contribute to continuous improvement of facilities operations
Perform work during the Schools winter, march and summer break periods, along with other key peak times for the facilities team
Complete a variety of general labourer work including moving furniture, general and preventative maintenance, groundskeeping
Comfortable supporting School events as needed including duties such as support with parking, set up and tear down
Experience/Skills/Certifications Required:
Ontario Secondary School Diploma
Minimum five years of experience in a facilities/maintenance role
Demonstrated experience in painting commercial and residential buildings
Proven skills in drywall installation, repair, taping, sanding and finishing
Proficiency in operating shop machinery, equipment, power tools and hand tools
Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
Flexibility for on-call, evening and weekend work as required
